Stages of How to Make a Screen-Printed T-Shirt

In making screen-printed t-shirts, there are at least 3 (three) stages that must be carried out to produce screen-printed t-shirts as expected. The following are several processes that must be carried out to produce results that meet expectations:

  1. Pre-Print Stage

The first stage in making screen-printed t-shirts is the pre-printing stage, where in this phase several things are done before proceeding to the next stage. What should be done?

  • Design Process => In the process, what must be done is to create a design for the screen printing of the t-shirts that will be printed. This is also related to ideas or thoughts to produce the desired design. This process can also be done in various ways and techniques. For example, by photography or taking photos or you can also use hand drawing and so on. After finding the design, you can process it into a Screen Printing Film/Cliche.
  • Making Screen Printed Films / Clichés => In this process, precisely after having a design that is ready to be printed, the next step is to process it into Screen Printed Films / Clichés.
  • Stencil / Afdruk Process => The process carried out after having the Screen Printing Film / Cliche is carrying out the stencil or afdruk process. This is done by transferring the image that has been printed on the screen printing film to the screen.
  • Preparing the Screen Printing Workbench =>  Before starting the printing process, preparing the screen printing workbench is something that must be done. This is done so that when you are printing you will not be disturbed by other activities.
  1. Stages during printing

The stages carried out after the pre-press process are the main stages, namely the printing stage. When carrying out the printing process, what you need to pay attention to is using the correct sweeping technique. What must be done at this stage?

  • Screen Printing Technique => Basically the printing task is actually very simple, namely transferring ink to the desired media through a filter cloth / screen. Screen printers also have to determine what type of screen printing technique will be used. Do you use manual screen printing or DTG screen printing ?
  • Type of screen printing ink used => Learning the characteristics of the type of screen printing or printing ink that will be used is essential. This is done because not every ink has the same characteristics.
  1. Post-Print Stages

The next stage related to how to screen print t-shirts is the post-printing stage. There are three things that usually need to be done in this process, including:

  • Drying Process => What is done in this process is the process of drying the printed balloon ink. This can be done through natural processes, namely drying or simply letting it air. Also with the help of machines (fans, blowers, etc.).
  • Curing Process =>  This process requires special tools for the drying process of screen printing with certain materials. However, in general it turns out that some screen printing practitioners often forget to carry out this process so that the final results are not very satisfying.
  • Burning / Opening Process => In this process there are only certain types of screen printing ink that require this treatment, namely by burning the ink so that it reaches the perfect drying point.

Behind the process and method of making screen-printed t-shirts, the most crucial thing that must be done is the use of the t-shirt material. For this reason, as someone who does business in the screen printing sector, you need the best t-shirt supplier to meet the expected quality standards.
