A person who sexually assaulted 19 ladies and a teenage lady whereas using previous them on his bicycle has been jailed.

Joshua Etchells, 21, attacked his victims in Manchester and Cheshire from 1 March to 7 March, together with 9 ladies in a single day.

He would method his victims from behind on a bicycle after they had been both strolling or working, usually alone, down a towpath.

As Etchells started to go the ladies, he would seize or slap their backside and shortly flee the scene.

On Friday, Joshua Etchells, of Sale, was jailed for 14 months after pleading responsible to twenty counts of sexual assault by touching at Manchester Minshull Avenue Crown Courtroom.

The costs in opposition to Etchells relate to sexual assaults on canal towpaths alongside the Bridgewater Canal, the River Mersey, and the Trans Pennine Path.

On two events, Etchells approached the sufferer head-on and cycled previous them earlier than turning round and biking again in direction of them from behind.

As he handed, he sexually assaulted them.

Police caught Etchells following an assault on the Trans Pennine Path when the sufferer and a member of the family determined to drive across the native space to find him.

They noticed a male she was assured was Etchells and she or he shouted out the window at him.

Ignoring her shouts, she managed to take pictures of him, which she then handed over to police.

A full investigation was launched by Higher Manchester Police (GMP) and on 13 March, plain-clothed officers had been on patrol in an unmarked car in Sale and seen Etchells on his bike and recognized him because the male wished for a number of sexual assaults.

He was subsequently arrested and his bike – that matched the outline of the bicycle reported to police – was seized.

GMP’s Detective Inspector Helen Bagnall stated: “Firstly I wish to lengthen my thanks and gratitude to all the ladies who got here ahead to report the assault.

She added: “Etchells’ twisted behaviour was nothing in need of deplorable and he felt he was untouchable and would be capable of flee every assault with little consequence.

“I am glad we have now been in a position to place him behind bars the place he may have loads of time to replicate on his actions.”

On his launch, Etchells may even be required to signal the intercourse offenders register for 10 years.
